My name is Mahsa Bahrami and I am a PhD student in the Department of Geography at Penn State University. I am a physical geographer and my research interests are centered around understanding the complex relationship between supraglacial lakes, ice sheet dynamics, and their impact on sea level rise. By using remote sensing data like Sentinel-2 and ICESat-2 data, my goal is to understand the processes within supraglacial lakes and their influence on ice sheet behavior in Greenland and Antarctica. This involves studying lake formation, climate interactions, and hydrological processes to enhance sea level rise predictions.
Prior to attending Penn State, I worked a year as a graduate research assistant at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg where I received my M.Sc. degree in Climate and Environmental Sciences. During my research assistantship, I had the opportunity to work on supraglacial lake detection in Sentinel-2 data using deep learning techniques.
